More Changes For Ravens DeAndre Hopkins Joins Michael Pierce Retires

As the offseason rolls along along there have been multiple transactions taking place. And the Baltimore Ravens have been a part of the frenzy, but it’s not over yet and they are still active. More changes for the Ravens have happened as DeAndre Hopkins joins the team while Michael Pierce retires. Hopkins, the three-time All-Pro wideout was signed by the Ravens to a one-year, $6 million contract, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

In 2024, Hopkins was traded midseason from the Tennessee Titans to the Kansas City Chiefs. During his 12-year NFL career, Hopkins has amassed 12,965 yards and 83 touchdowns on 984 receptions. Although he wasn’t considered a difference maker for quarterback Patrick Mahomes he still can contribute to the Ravens offense. He’ll be joining quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry. Five years ago he posted a picture of the three of them. The caption read, “How many TD’s would this trio total?” We’re all going to get an answer in the 2025 season.

Jackson will have a ton of talented pass catchers to throw to next season. Currently on the roster are Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely and now DeAndre Hopkins. And Hopkins will have the advantage of a full offseason to get acclimated to his new team. He’ll have time to work with and get to know his quarterback. A luxury he didn’t have when he was traded to the Chiefs. I look forward to seeing what the veteran can bring to the Ravens offense.

As we say hello to DeAndre we have to say goodbye to Michael Pierce. He announced his retirement today after nine years in the league seven of which he spent in Baltimore.

Pierce was an undrafted free agent in 2016, but became one of the game’s best nose tackles, known for his run-stopping prowess. However, he may best be known for the last snap he ever took. Throughout his entire career he only had one interception that came on his final regular-season snap. He intercepted Cleveland Browns quarterback Bailey Zappe and rumbled for a couple yards. Then the 355-pounder took a knee prematurely and was swarmed by adoring teammates.

“After nine seasons, after much prayer, talking to my family, just going through the grind, man, and just being satisfied with there I am, looking forward to doing other things in life, I just decided to call it a career,” Pierce said on Sports Spectrum’s podcast. “It’s been a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful nine years.”

Best wishes to DeAndre and Michael in their new situations.
