Mo’ne Davis Now- A Decade After Making Little League World Series History

Where did the time go? Mo’ne Davis now a decade after making Little League World Series history; as the first female pitcher to pitch a shutout and win a game. Still has a strong desire to spearhead and take a commanding lead in advancing women’s athletics.

Nonetheless, it’s wild to think she was only 13; when she came bursting onto the scene. Becoming the first Little League baseball player to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated.

MLB Develops put together a great overview of Davis’ sports life and current goals. They state,

“Mo’ne Davis was the first female to ever earn a win & throw a shutout in Little League History at just 13 years old.

Davis went on to play for the Phillies RBI baseball team, and for Hampton Soft Ball. During her undergrad, she earned internship opportunities with MLB Network and the Dodgers.

Mo’ne is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Columbia University. It’s just the beginning for what she’s going to accomplish next.”

However, it is not 2014 anymore. And Davis is all grown up. Nevertheless, what truly is next for this sports sensation?

Mo’ne Davis Now- A Decade After Making Little League World Series History

Well, Mo’ne is not just focusing on her schooling. She’s heavily zeroed in on continuing her career in sports. In what capacity? Some sources are thinking perhaps as a GM. However, The Philadelphia Inquirer reveals,

“Ten years after taking the world by storm, Mo’ne Davis wants to bring pro women’s sports to her hometown.

[Davis says], “In 10 years from now, I will be adding a WNBA team and NWSL team to Philly.”

That would be 2034. Plus, Philly is already home to some amazing sports franchises. Such as the Philadelphia Eagles and MLB ball club, Philadelphia Phillies. Both teams have recently appeared in the biggest game and series of their respective industries. The Phillies went to the World Series in 2022; and the Eagles played in the Super Bowl in 2023. Thus, making this sports town the perfect fit and location to add more teams.

Furthermore, Davis understands the struggles that many female athletes face. Limited opportunities for career advancement or financial compensation. Additional scrutiny as well as criticism.

Therefore, Mo’ne is well qualified to be at the helm of womens sports; helping to mold it, and grow it. We wish Miss Davis well in all her future endeavors in regards to the WNBA and NWSL. And we look forward to covering her hard work and sports moves as they come to fruition.
