MLB Reveals Top Ten Most Popular Jerseys— Shohei Ohtani Tops List 3rd Time

Major League Baseball has many amazing stars and plenty of fans who in turn want their jerseys.  So then, who reigns supreme? Which baseball figure sells the most? Well, on Thursday the MLB revealed the top ten most popular jerseys and Shohei Ohtani has topped the list for the third consecutive season.

Not surprisingly, but there are multiple blue men in this list. The Dodgers have been on quite a tear as of late. Multiple 100-win seasons, along with winning two consecutive championships (2024 and 2025); as well as a title in the shortened season of 2020.

Pure hitters Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are in the top seven of popular Major League jerseys. Freeman is in the number seven position. While Betts is currently rounding out the top five in fifth place. Additionally, lights out pitching ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto now finds himself in the second slot right behind his countryman, Ohtani.

But of course, the leading man of the league and face continues to be Shohei Ohtani. He’s not only popular here in the United States, but in his home country of Japan. For instance, the first game of the 2025 Tokyo Series was watched by 25 million viewers in Japan, setting a new record. Additionally, it’s estimated 56.56 million people watched at least one of the 2024 World Series games on TV. Of the individuals that tuned in, 15.9 million viewers in Japan watched Game 2, a record for MLB postseason.

So then, Shohei is bringing plenty of eyes and attention to the league. And of course, this translates well into financial success. For 2026, Shohei Ohtani is projected and on pace to earn $127 Million led by lucrative endorsements. This puts the Dodgers number one star on track for the highest single-season endorsement earnings in the history of sports among active athletes.

But now, back to that list. While Ohtani certainly made waves with the Angels; going to a huge market franchise like the Los Angeles Dodgers only increased his visibility and making him an even bigger revenue draw. Furthermore, Ohtani and other baseball players, only continue to rise in popularity.
