Mike Tyson and Jake Paul Weigh-in Before Netflix Event
He’s iconic, and he is back in the ring. Late Thursday, the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul Weigh-in went down, which only hyped and intensified the lead up to Friday’s bout. The weigh-ins got underway from the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas.
This is the very last time Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will see each other before they officially face-off. Thursday’s pre-battle promotional and traditional event began at 8pm ET and was broadcast live. During the Muhammad Ali era (1960s–70s), boxing promotions began televising the weigh-in proceedings to generate publicity before the scheduled fights. Nonetheless, Tyson fans got to see all the action if they tuned in via YouTube or Netflix.
And here’s how it went. Mostly all business. There was some eruption when Tyson connected with a slap to Paul. But mainly, things just focused on the numbers. Paul came in at 227.2 pounds. Tyson tilted the scales only slightly heavier at 228.4 pounds.

But how do these scale numbers compare to Tyson and Paul’s numbers in the past? Well, most expected Mike to be a tad heavier than in the past; just due to such factors like age. However, Jake’s increase is definitely a departure from what boxing fans are used to seeing from him.
Before the official weigh-ins on Thursday evening, Sporting News gave a quick history lesson and overview about these two competitors. They state,
“The weigh-in show will be getting underway soon and now would be a good time to cover the numbers that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have registered in the past.
This will be the first time that Paul has campaigned in the heavyweight division. Up until now, “The Problem Child” has competed exclusively in the cruiserweight division and he has never exceeded 200 pounds. His lightest weight for a fight was 185 pounds.
In his prime, Tyson weighed approximately 215 pounds, but that was in the 1980s. In the latter part of his career, the former champion exceeded the 230-pound mark. Judging by his current size and physique, many expect Tyson to come at the heaviest weight of his career.”
Interesting. While many fans want to see Tyson win. For the last week, Las Vegas has been predicting and giving a slight odds advantage to Paul. But soon, reality will reveal the winner.
