Mike Evans Agrees to $52 Million Deal to Stay With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans Agrees to $52 Million Deal to Stay With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Money plays, and money talks. The Bucs are making moves to shore up their offense for the next few seasons. After some discussions, star wide receiver Mike Evans agrees to a $52 Million deal to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Evans himself is among the first to break the news online to fans through the Mike Evans Foundation X (formerly Twitter) page. In post a photo montage of Mike in Buccaneer gear is seen with the words “He is Back” layered on front and bolded. The caption: “STAYING IN TAMPA.”

So if we are understanding him right, he’s not going ANYWHERE. Furthermore, ESPN’s Adam Schefter also confirms the Mike Evans and Tampa Bay contract news. Schefter reveals,

Before free agency begins next week, the Buccaneers and five-time Pro-Bowl WR Mike Evans reached agreement on a two-year, $52 million [contract] that includes $35 million guaranteed, per his agent Deryk Gilmore. Evans now has a real chance to start and finish his career in Tampa as a Buc.

This is great news for Bucs fans and it’s a solid decision by the Tampa Bay organization. Especially, since getting an agreement done at first seemed a bit shaky. Going into the 2023 season, Evans and his agent publicly stated he wanted an extension, but the Buccaneers didn’t offer one at the time. Therefore, it’s great to see things work out this time for both parties involved.

Mike Evans Agrees to $52 Million Deal to Stay With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans has a been a beast for Tampa Bay. Evans, 30, was the 7th overall pick out of Texas A&M in the 2014 draft. In 2023, he had 79 catches, 1,255 yards and 13 TDs.

Moreover, in 2023 he had an NFL record 10th straight season with 1000+ yards and will be on his way to the hall of fame, possibly after spending his entire career with the Buccaneers.

However, by retaining Evans’ services, this could be a signal from the Bucs for another development soon. This could mean that the Buccaneers are also looking to keep resurgent quarterback, Baker Mayfield. The Buccaneers would certainly be an attractive option for the well traveled Mayfield to stay now that his best weapon is coming back.
