In a world of Caitlin Clarke and Angel Reese, it can be kind of hard for a college baller to stand out. However, one freshman at LSU seems to be having no issues at all getting one and all to know and remember her name. In case you missed it, this week Mikaylah Williams scores 42 points versus Kent State!
Basically, Mikaylah Williams had herself a night. During the entire game she is doing some serious damage and numbers. When the dust clears on Kent’s annihilation; Williams is going down in history with: 42 points, 15-10 field goals; 5-8 (3-Point field goals), 7 rebounds; 3 assists and 3 steals. As one can see, the LSU freshman is in full BEAST MODE.
Crazy thing is, being just a freshman, she’s only going to get better. Moreover, after the game coach Kim Mulkey expresses her thoughts on the talent level of Williams. Mulkey states,
“As good as she is, I don’t think she knows how good she is. … I guess it’s those moments where you just feel like that rim’s as big as the ocean.”

Totally get the analogy, because all game long, Mikaylah is just dropping them in; left and right. Sports network, ESPN; mentioned a few more stats regarding Williams record-breaking night. ESPN reveals that,
“LSU freshman Mikaylah Williams scores 42 points versus Kent State on Tuesday. It was [only] Williams’ 4th career game with the Tigers; and the most points scored by any LSU freshman in a game since the 1976-77 season.”
Simply amazing. All we can do is just applaud. Number 12 is literally just scratching the surface of her potential; and it’s going to be exciting to watch her grow and progress.
Nevertheless, us college basketball fans are not the only ones watching; and keeping a steady keen eye on the young freshman. Already the pros are taking note of Mikaylah’s dominance on the court. After LSU’s 109-79 win over Kent State; the WNBA took to social media to highlight Mikaylah’s 42 point performance. Not bad to already have the WNBA showing your highlight reel!

Also, one last fun fact: LSU set the program record Tuesday for points in a half; with 70 during the second half against Iowa. The previous record was set in the National Championship with 59 in the first half against Iowa.
Therefore, after a disappointing start to the season, the Tigers are turning things around. Annihilating the opposition. Plus, proving why they are currently the reigning champs.
