If you are a Michigan football fan, it’s been quite a moment for you. In college and the NFL. The Lions are in the playoffs and the Wolverines have done something for first time in 76 years (1997 was a shared title; but feel free to count it if you wish). Michigan defeats Washington and wins College National Playoffs Championship.
Winning a championship is already worth confetti, however, Michigan is making plenty of history as well. Not only are they the first program to achieve 1,000 wins. But, Michigan also becomes the first team in Big Ten history to finish a season 15-0.
Nevertheless, there is one player who believed all along. Before he even suits up as a Michigan player. That guy, is none other than JJ McCarthy. Just a few years ago, JJ says this online.
“2020 has showed me, that we all just need to take a deep breath and relax…
I want all Michigan fans to do this. Take 3 deep breaths… And have faith. Faith that every single Coach, player, employee in that building is doing everything they possibly can to be great.
This great university demands excellence. This great fan base demands excellence. Everything that surrounds this university, is simply just pure drive for excellence. Know that every single person associated with the football program is striving for excellence.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel. They will not reach that light if it is being clouded by darkness. Support is the only thing that they need right now. EVERY single one of you has the power to contribute to the GOAL. We are all in this together.”
JJ McCarthy truly meant the in it together part; for in 2021 he heads off to be a Wolverine. Coming from IMG, where he was already a proven winner. The All-American QB had led his team at IMG Academy to being national champions.
He keeps this same goal for Michigan. Fast forward three years, and boom, mission accomplished. Michigan wins another championship.

Brad Galli, a Detroit Michigan sportscaster for ABC catches up with JJ McCarthy after the win against Washington; with a final score of 13-34. He reminds him of his promises over the years, including last year. Galli reports,
JJ McCarthy led Michigan to the national championship victory. He made a promise last year to do it.
[McCarthy replies], ‘The only reason I said that last year; was because I knew the team that was coming back. This is such a special group.’
Winning championships is not easy. You do need the right set of guys, leadership and coaching to make it happen. While Michigan celebrates, some are not cheering.
The program came under fire due to allegations of cheating. While no real reprimand has come to fruition; there’s rumblings of further investigations. However, time shall tell.
For now, Michigan are the champions. Kings of the castle. So queue up that classic song by Queen.
