Miami Dolphins Demoralized the New York Jets On Black Friday

Metlife Stadium was filled with excited and hopeful fans. But that hope was crushed when the Miami Dolphins demoralized the New York Jets on Black Friday. Saying that the Jets offense is struggling is an understatement. Although they benched Zack Wilson, his replacement Tim Boyle faced the same issues as Wilson.

It doesn’t seem likely that any quarterback can have success behind their offensive line. The only reason the Jets have won games is because of their 8th ranked defense. They worked tirelessly during the game to give their offense chances to get the ball.

However, the Jets had mostly terrible field position during the first half. Unable to pick up first downs they were constantly punting the ball. The defense caused two turnovers and one of them was a pick six. But naturally the extra point after the touchdown was missed.

Then to add insult to injury there was :02 on the clock when Boyle came in and threw a hail Mary. The pass was caught by Jevon Holland and was run back for a 99 yard touchdown with no time left on the clock. As Kirk Herbstreit said, “if there’s ever a play that embodies an entire season, this is it for the New York Jets.” That play will now be forever known as the “Hell Mary.” Right up there with the infamous “Butt Fumble.”

While the Dolphins offense is highly ranked they did have some trouble today. Tua had two interceptions and seemed a little off with his passes. But they still put up a bunch of points. Had Jets defense not been on the field so much they may have been able to disrupt the Miami offense even more.

In spite of the ugliness of the Jets offense, in the fourth quarter, they did move the ball. They converted some third and fourth downs and finally scored a touchdown. It looked as if Boyle and his receivers got into a bit of a rhythm. And maybe that’s something they can build on for next week.
