As soon as the Rapinoe injury occurred, media member, Bella Munson, of The Equalizer (the number one source for women’s soccer in North America); had the scoop. Apparently, Megan was fully aware of her career ending injury instantly. Munson reports,
“Not at all what you want to see. Rapinoe won’t get the final game she deserves. She is replaced by Bethany Balcer barely five minutes in.
Megan Rapinoe confirms in the post-match presser that she felt her Achilles pop, leading to her early substitution. She will get an MRI.
Asked about declining the stretcher Pinoe said “Yeah I ain’t no punk” but also that she slightly regretted that decision halfway around.
Speaking about her plans for the future. Megan Rapinoe slips in that she has a documentary coming out.”
After Megan’s removal from the championship game, her team the Reign, give it all they got. But, they would fall short. NJ/NY Gotham FC would walk away as champs, winning 2-1.
