Major League Baseball Announces 2025 Gold Glove Winners in American and National Leagues

What wins championships? Some would say offense. Others would acknowledge team effort and performance. But the stats do not lie, excellent defense is a strong element that often aids or leads to victory. Therefore, it’s that time of year when Baseball takes a moment to recognize its best defensive players. On Sunday night, Major League Baseball announced the 2025 Gold Glove Winners in the American and National Leagues.

If you’re not too familiar with the history of Rawlings’ prestigious award. Here’s a quick summary straight from the sports entity, Rawlings reveals,

“Defense. It’s the heart of the game and the heart of Rawlings. Since its creation in 1957, The Rawlings Gold Glove Award® has been the benchmark by which all defense is measured.

Over the years, the award has been bestowed on some of the game’s greatest defensive players: Willie Mays, Brooks Robinson, Johnny Bench, Ozzie Smith, Derek Jeter and Yadier Molina, just to name a few. Today, the award remains the highest symbol of defensive excellence and ultimately determines who is, “The Finest in the Field™”!

In its first year, only nine professional players received the award. Beginning in 1958, eighteen total players received the honor, one for each position, in both the National and American Leagues.”

Back on October 15th the MLB announced the gold glove finalists. And revealed that winners would be officially announced on November 2nd. Well, the second has arrived and the names have been solidified.
