Mac McClung is Officially the All-Time Leading Scorer in NBA G League History
This fan favorite dunk contest champion just put up 59 points. Yes, he’s pulling a Luka in the G League. When a basketball player is hitting this type of mark and level of play it’s hard not to get noticed. And when they’re also busy making history it’s even tougher to stay under the radar. Case in point, the Windy City Bulls announced that Mac McClung is officially the all-time leading scorer in NBA G League history.
The Windy City Bulls is the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls franchise. McClung has been thriving in this system and the cat is now out the bag. On Tuesday, Windy City faced off against the Birmingham Squadron. During this matchup McClung set a: Career high of 59 points (3rd most in G League history); along with a Windy City franchise record for points in a single game (again); and placed himself atop the all-time G League scoring record. This is what led to the late Tuesday night team posting regarding Mac. It states,
“History made.
Mac McClung is officially the All-Time Leading Scorer in the NBA G League. The Chicago Bulls two-way guard has 5,335 points across five seasons.”
Additionally, the official page for the NBA G League that recognizes and highlights the achievements of developing players, veterans and two-way players; also commented on Mac’s on court performance. The page says,
“59 PTS, 5 REB, 10 AST, 8 3PM!
Mac McClung is OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Not only did he become the G League All-Time Leading Scorer, he just recorded a career-high 59 points! This marks his second 50+ PT game this season. Mac now holds the third highest scoring game in G League history!
Two-Way star Mac McClung has passed Renaldo Major (5,299) to become the G League’s all-time leading scorer across the Tip-Off Tournament, regular season, and playoffs.”

Although his pro career has had some ups and downs; McClung seems bound and determined to right his ship. He’s working hard to refine his game in hopes of being ready whenever his next opportunity up top presents itself. And he’s got the right attitude in the process.
After the conclusion of his high scoring game, McClung reflected, “God is great. I’m truly grateful for tonight. I wanna thank my coaches and teammates for helping me reach this achievement. My entire pro career I’ve made it a priority to kill any ego and make the most of whatever situation I’ve been put in. Some really cool things can happen when you’re present and enjoy becoming.”
Nicely said. Hopefully some more cool things will occur for McClung in near future. And he becomes the player he truly wants to be.
