Two players. Two legends. One amazing work of art. The newest Los Angeles member of the purple and gold, Luka Doncic took to social media as he showcases a new mural featuring himself and Kobe Bryant.
The vibrant mural is the creation of an artist that goes by the name of ArToon. ArToon has painted other murals around the LA region. But this piece is really gaining traction.
It depicts that time Kobe Bryant playfully heckled Luka in Slovenian. Doncic has recounted this moment many times and we never tire hearing of it. As SI mentions,
“Luka Doncic has told the story about how he was getting ready to inbound the ball when he heard a deep voice behind him say something in Slovenian. He turns around to see Kobe Bryant sitting right behind him, and they had a nice moment after the game. Even in Doncic’s introductory press conference [with the Lakers], he mentioned the interaction and wished that Kobe and his daughter Gigi could’ve been there to see it.”
In Los Angeles, wall artwork can often be okayed if a restaurant or company will allow for a portion of their building to be painted. Turns out a spot on the iconic Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California was more than happy to provide a wall for the new Kobe and Doncic mural. And now basketball fans will have one more city attraction to stop by and see “when in Rome.”
