Lucky Duck Foundation Remembers Peter Seidler- And His Fight to End Homelessness
When you see the name Peter Seidler, you immediately think Major League Baseball. However, the man was so much more. For instance, Lucky Duck Foundation remembers Peter Seidler for his relentless efforts to help improve the community of San Diego; and lessen the pain and effects of homelessness.
The foundation released a brief statement about the Padres’ owner, Peter Seidler. They state,
“On behalf of our Board of Directors, the Tuesday Group, and the entire Lucky Duck Foundation community, we are beyond saddened at the passing of Peter Seidler.
We offer our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Peter’s wife Sheel, their three children, Peter’s extended family, the San Diego Padres, and the greater San Diego Community.
Peter was the heart and soul of our organization and instrumental in leading and galvanizing our efforts to join him in the lifelong fight to prevent and alleviate the suffering of homelessness in San Diego County.
Peter was inspirational and effective in everything he did, be that as a father, husband, business leader, owner of the Padres, philanthropist, and more. While Peter always stressed the importance of addressing homelessness through strategies that are “best in class,” Peter himself was truly the best in every class.
While it is impossible to replace Peter, we will do everything in our power to carry forward his deep commitment and passion to aiding our most vulnerable neighbors throughout San Diego County.”

Peter Seidler’s impact on San Diego and sports is simply profound. Peter truly wanted better for one and all; and his actions backed up his beliefs. His passing leaves a big hole in the hearts of many.
‘Papa Pete,’ his beloved nickname given to him by San Diegans and Padres fans; unfortunately passed early November 14. At just 63 years old. Way too soon.
Nevertheless, Peter Seidler leaves behind a blueprint for others. Always remember that life is fleeting so have many goals and dreams; and work hard to reach them. However, most importantly, work not just for your own interests, but to help others.
