LSU Versus Iowa- Championship Rematch During Elite 8
It’s… about… to go… DOWN. March Madness has already been full of twists, turns, surprises and domination. However, now we are being blessed with a rematch of LSU versus Iowa as both teams are now apart of the Elite 8.
As you may recall, last year’s NCAA championship on the women’s side featured Caitlin Clark’s Iowa State and the Angel Reese led LSU. In the end though, Reese and company would come away with the big “W.” Winning the championship 102-85.
Ratings are going to no doubt be through the roof; due to the supposed rivalry between Angel and Caitlin. While it makes for great drama and television lore; as well as does numbers on social media. Reese makes it clear that that particular storyline is just not true.
Angel says that her and Caitlin don’t dislike each other at all. It’s just once they both step out on that court; it’s a much different situation. The gloves come off, competition and passion comes out; and it’s time to get out there and try to win.
During a presser for the upcoming game; Angel Reese tells reporters,
“Previewing the big Iowa Women’s Basketball rematch in the Elite 8 and the two familiar faces in the game.
[Angel Reese says], ‘Me and Caitlyn Clark don’t hate each other.[However], once I get between those lines, it’s no friends.’”
Furthermore, Iowa legend Caitlin Clark was very complimentary of LSU and is happy for her team’s performance thus far in the tournament. Clark states,
“I think overall it’s just going to be a really great game for women’s basketball. They’re really solid one through five. We know we are going to have to rebound the basketball.
But more than anything I think just building off this win today, I think this was the first time in about three games we were able to put together what felt like a complete basketball game on both ends of the floor.”

Angel also commented on what she feels will be her team’s strength during the rematch. Chad Leistikow, a Hawkeyes lead columnist quickly summoned up her thoughts. He reports,
“Angel Reese says LSU’s advantage tomorrow is at the 4 spot with Aneesah Morrow. Has high praise for Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke, who Reese will match up with at the 5.”
Nonetheless, even though LSU won last year, the team is way different this year. David Eickholt for 247 Sports and CBS Sports also brought some attention to this perspective. Eickholt mentions,
“Good point by ESPN’s crew– LSU lost its top-three scorers from the national title game last year. Different team obviously, but I’m curious how they’ll attack Iowa. They don’t have as much depth as last season. But they got a ton of talent.”
Very interesting. However, this is going to be a rematch for the ages and all the books. Be sure to get your beer and popcorn ready as the showdown pops off on April at 4:15pm.
