LSU loses season-opener to Colorado

Shocking, but not the end of the world. LSU loses season-opener to Colorado in a match that leaves the defending champs going in the wrong direction. After four quarters, Colorado demolishes the Tigers 92-78.

Since their big championship win against rival, Iowa Hawkeyes. The Tigers have one goal, and one goal only. To do it all again.

Of course, winning one title is quite the achievement. However, doing a repeat the very next season; definitely helps to solidify a team’s absolute dominance and college ball legacy. LSU strongly believes that they are THE team to get a back to back championship done.

To make this dream a reality, all team members must gel and be on the same page. Moreover, arguably LSU’s most popular player, Angel Reese; is excited to get to work on tacking on to LSU’s champ status. In a brief interview regarding this season’s aspirations, Reese states,

It’s been amazing. I mean, of course we’re not satisfied because we want to get another one. [However, I love] being able to be apart of another team [this year] that’s super competitive and amazing coaching staff; and the best environment in the country. Which is Louisiana and Baton Rouge, and LSU.

So I’m excited to do it all over again, just to be back. And I love the atmosphere here.”

Unfortunately, LSU fell short in their first game of the season. Can call it nerves. Can call it feeling the weight of being defending champions. Nonetheless, the Tigers ladies just were not able to get it done in four quarters.

However, the entire game wasn’t this entire massacre. During the Colorado matchup, Angel Reese and crew start off gaining the lead in the first quarter before it ends. Moreover, even though LSU isn’t quite looking like themselves, there is still no sense of panic at this point in the game.

Going into the second quarter LSU still is able to maintain a lead. However, the rest of game, the momentum shifts. The Buffs come on STRONG and the Tigers defense evaporates; making them unable to recover. As the NCAA states,

Number One goes down in season opener. Number 20 Colorado Women’s Basketball Buffs stuns defending champs, [the] Number One LSU!

As one can see, the Tigers have a lot of work to do like limiting those turnovers; in order to reach their goal. However, it is just game one, therefore, there’s plenty of time to right the ship. Nevertheless, congrats to Colorado on pulling off the upset! The Buff ladies played extremely well, and were a pleasure to watch. Man… is it just us… or does it seem as though Deion’s magic is rubbing off on everything Colorado sports touches; because the Buffs were definitely ready for “prime” time!
