Los Angeles Lakers Sign Angel Reese’s Brother JuJu Reese
His sister made waves at LSU, the Unrivaled league and now the WNBA. But now, her sibling has an opportunity to shine brightly in basketball as well. On Friday, a day after the 2025 NBA Draft’s conclusion, the Los Angeles Lakers sign Angel Reese’s brother JuJu Reese.
Just last season, Angel Reese made her way to the “W.” She was a part of an exciting class of rookies that included the number one overall pick and Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark; along with Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, Carla Leite and Kamilla Carduso.
By the time the season ended, Reese had some accolades under her belt including the single-season record for rebounds with 446 and also the record for the highest rebounding average (13.1 rpg) in a single season. Additionally, she set the record for most consecutive double-doubles (15) and most double-doubles by a rookie (26).
However, Angel will step a bit to the side to allow room for little brother. Because now, it is JuJu’s time. Although Juju was signed as an undrafted free agent he has much to offer the Lakers. The former Terrapin was one of the most productive players in Maryland basketball history. He will be brought in for the NBA Summer League, giving the 1,000-point scorer a chance to earn a roster spot with the Lakers.

Angel showed her pride for her sibling as she enthusiastically posted on her x.com account: “OPPORTUNITY. COME ON JU.” If Juju makes the Lakers’ squad, the Reese’s will join other brother-sister professional players such as T.J. (Pacers) and Megan McConnell (Mercury); Anthony and Candace Parker who both were first round draft picks; and Amir (Clippers) and Nia Coffey (Dream). It would have been great if Reggie and Cheryl Miller could be added to the list. However, the WNBA did not exist when Cheryl finished her stellar college career in 1986 as a USC Trojan.
But as for Juju, his college coach believes he has a bright future ahead of him. He stated:
“I really believe one day Julian’s number will be hanging from the rafters,” former Maryland coach Kevin Willard said during Reese’s senior season. “Because in an era where kids showed no loyalty, kids get up and go anytime they want, money this and that, this young man didn’t transfer.”
If his number makes it to the rafters is yet to be known, but for now his main focus will be making it onto the roster. We wish all the best to Juju and congratulate him on his NBA opportunity.
