Los Angeles Dodgers Take a Two Game Lead in 2024 World Series
On Saturday the slugfest continued. New York and Los Angeles flexed their big bats by knocking dingers all over the stadium. But the Yankees would not be able to respond after yesterday’s loss. On Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers take a two game lead in the 2024 World Series. Let’s quickly recap.
The Dodgers drew first blood thanks to Tommy Edman who has been a force to be reckoned with during the postseason. Edman in the second inning hit a home run to left field. Allowing LA to take a 1-0 lead.
However, the lead would not stand for long. The Yankees answered right back in the third. Juan Soto came to the plate and was all business. He homers down the right field line. The game is TIED.
But the very next inning the men in blue would do their thing yet again. Los Angeles continues to put on a show with back to back home runs by Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman after a Mookie Betts single. The scoreboard now reads 1-4, Dodgers out in front. Yankees have some work to do if they wish to not go down two games in the series.

For awhile, that is how the score would stay. However, the Dodgers would be hit with a major blow; just not on the scoreboard. In the seventh inning while attempting to steal a base Shohei sustained an injury. Originally, the broadcast mentioned it looked like a wrist injury, but later reports would confirm that Shohei was dealing with an injured shoulder. He would leave the field with a trainer and then the stadium completely.
In the ninth, the Yankees did put up a valiant effort. First, Juan Soto would reach base. He singles on a sharp fly ball to right fielder Mookie Betts.
Moreover, thanks to a wild pitch Soto would be able to get to second. Then, Giancarlo Stanton singles on a ground ball to left fielder Chris Taylor; allowing Juan Soto to score.
From there the Yankees would even load the bases. But would not be able to capitalize. The Dodgers escape winning 4-2. Yamamoto tossed an absolute gem against NY, holding the ball club to one run while on the mound. This series has already had many twists and turns. Game 3 goes down on Monday.
