Los Angeles Dodgers Take 3 Game Lead Over Yankees in World Series

So far this matchup has been all the blue men. LA seems to be on cruise control toward bringing a championship to the west coast. Case in point, the Los Angeles Dodgers have now taken a 3 game lead over the New Yankees in the 2024 World Series. NY is on the verge of getting swept.

Furthermore, the Dodgers almost shut out the Yankees on Monday evening, but the boys in pinstripes put up a valiant effort in the bottom of the ninth. New York in game 3 was able to cut down LA’s lead by half, but the Dodgers would still come away with a “W.” Winning after a late game scare, 4-2.

But what went down before the late game burst of action? Well, Los Angeles took an early lead thanks to Freddie Freeman, who despite dealing with injury this postseason has been absolutely amazing.

In the first inning, Shohei Ohtani worked a walk. Then Freddie homered on a fly ball to right field. It’s now 2-0.

Moving to the top of the third inning, the Dodgers would add on. Tommy Edman would earn a walk to first base. Ohtani would groundout, however, this play would still move Edman to second base. Next up, Mookie Betts would do work at the plate. He hits a soft fly ball to right fielder Juan Soto that results in a single. More importantly, Tommy Edman scores and Los Angeles is up 3-0.

The Dodgers’ final run of the night would occur in the sixth inning. Gavin Lux is hit by a pitch and rewarded a base. He is focused on stealing to second and he succeeds. LA now how has a guy in scoring position yet again.

Enrique Hernandez is next to come to the plate and he makes the Yankees pay for these mistakes. Hernandez singles on a ground ball to center fielder Aaron Judge which allows Gavin Lux to run home and score. Dodgers are up 4-0.

As mentioned, the New York Yankees do make things interesting in the ninth. However, it is too little too late. Anthony Rizzo walks, then thanks to a wild pitch is able to get to second base. Alex Verdugo homers on a fly ball to right center field, changing the scoreboard to 4-2. But that’s how the score would remain.

Los Angeles has now won three in a row. And the Dodgers are now one win away from their 8th World Series title. Tune into game four tomorrow to see if they can get it done and hoist that trophy.
