Los Angeles Dodgers Defeat the Toronto Blue Jays to Win 2025 World Series
THEY HAVE DONE IT! The repeat drought is officially over and LA has made history. In the wee hours of November 1st, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays to win the 2025 World Series! The Dodgers rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in a decisive seventh game of the World Series to become Major League Baseball’s first repeat champion in 25 years.
Yes, for baseball fans on the east coast Game 7 began on the last day of October and technically ended the following morning. A situation that all MLB enthusiasts had gotten used to during this year’s Fall Classic. The Dodgers and Blue Jays found themselves going to extras on multiple occasions. Most notably during Game Three which lasted for a whopping 18 innings! Literally two games in one.
So then, Los Angeles didn’t have it easy. This wasn’t some walk in the park for them. They had to seriously battle and pull out all the stops; like moving catcher, Will Smith around in the batting lineup; and even utilizing starting pitchers as relief options as games tirelessly trudged on.
World Series 2025-Winning Situations
Well, every move and decision paid off. The Dodgers were able to outlast Toronto and gain the ultimate victory. Throughout Game 7 LA’s pitching in later innings was fantastic. While the Blue Jays were able to get to Ohtani; they had trouble with Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and the devastating Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Who is proving to be worth every cent of his $325 million contract with the $50 million sign on bonus.
Yamamoto sealed the Dodgers big win, capping one of the best and dominating pitching performances in World Series history with 2⅔ scoreless innings to end the clincher. That came one day after throwing 96 pitches in the Dodgers’ Game 6 win; and he pitched a four-hit complete game in Game 2 to help Los Angeles repeat. Simply elite.

And Yamamoto due to his excellent performance was honored with the 2025 World Series MVP accolades. After the game, Yoshinobu humbly said, “Before I went in, to be honest, I was not really sure if I could pitch up there to my best ability,” he said through an interpreter. “But as I started getting warmed up, because I started making a little bit of an adjustment, then I started thinking I can go in and do my job.”
Well, you did it Yamamoto. And it was amazing to witness. Nonetheless, now the question is, can the Dodgers three-peat? There have been
four MLB World Series three-peats, with the New York Yankees achieving it three times and the Oakland Athletics doing it once. In 2026, we get to see if the Dodgers can add one more to the books.
