Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres Last Remaining Undefeated Teams

It has been one wild opening week. We have seen new records made on individual player levels and by entire teams. The entrance of the Torpedo Bat. And a few $100M+ contract extensions get secured. But through it all, two teams have managed to not experience any losses as of yet. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are the last remaining undefeated teams of the 2025 MLB season.

These two Californian ball clubs have been duking it out for a while now. And it’s been beyond entertaining to watch. It is a rivalry that feels like a playoff atmosphere even during the regular season.

And it looks like these two franchises are going to be battling for the division as the year unfolds. It is another repeat of last season. In 2024 it came down to the very last week, the last few remaining series for a NL West division winner to be crowned and the playoff picture to be set.

What’s even more interesting is that this year; San Diego was not ranked anywhere near the top three when it came to MLB predictions before the season began. The Padres were not seen as a bad team, just not a top contender. Well, thus far the brown and gold are clearly demonstrating that they should not be underestimated. Peter Seidler said one day they will throw a parade and they are doing what they can to bring that dream to fruition.

Nevertheless, the Dodgers and Padres being undefeated has some historical significance as well. For LA, first of all, the Dodgers’ 7-0 start is a new Los Angeles franchise record. Additionally, the Dodgers reaching 7-0, matches the 1933 Yankees for best-ever start for defending World Series champions.

For the Padres, this is a first being 6-0 in their franchise history. Yet, they had already made team history at 5-0. Having their best season start since 1984. Furthermore, already there have been 9 shutouts in Major League Baseball this season: the Padres now have THREE (1/3rd) of those! Lastly, with the San Diego Padres currently having a 6-0 start to the 2025 MLB season, with 3 of those victories being shutouts, it makes them the third team in MLB history to achieve this feat.

Therefore, both of these teams are hot. It’s a long season ahead. But already this is shaping up to be a great season of baseball.
