Lindsay Vonn Provides Update Since Her 2026 Olympic Return and Crash
Lindsay Vonn staged a historic comeback for the 2026 Winter Olympics after a 2024 partial knee replacement. Furthermore, since rejoining the U.S. Ski Team, she showed competitive form, finishing 2nd in a Super-G at the 2025 Finals and becoming the oldest woman to win a World Cup alpine race. However, her glorious return and run would be cut short of her other goal; medaling at the Winter Games. Vonn suffered a severe knee injury (ruptured ACL) just before the Games. After the Olympics commenced things worsened as she suffered another injury during competition. Lindsay was transported to a hospital in Treviso, a city two hours south of Cortina, where she underwent an operation on a fracture in her left leg. Now, Lindsay Vonn has provided an update since her 2026 Olympic return and crash.
Just four days ago Vonn laid in a hospital gown and posted,
“A little update from me…❤️ thank you for all the love and support. Helps me so much.
This is a hard road I’m embarking on but… I can do this 💪🏻
And I still have no regrets. I will always believe in what’s possible. Always.”

On Tuesday, reports confirmed Vonn has finally made it home. Back to the United States. She’s thrilled and happy to be back and is very thankful for the wonderful care and support she has received. Lindsay Vonn once more took to social media to express,
“Haven’t stood on my feet in over a week… been in a hospital bed immobile since my race. And although I’m not yet able to stand, being back on home soil feels amazing. I’m home.
Huge thank you to everyone in Italy for taking good care of me.”
Lindsay still has quite the road to recovery ahead of her. She will continue treatment after she broke her leg (complex tibia fracture) during the Winter Olympic downhill. The Olympian also mentioned she’ll need additional surgery in the U.S.; after initially being treated in hospital in Italy and underwent several surgeries on her injured leg.
Nonetheless, Vonn has zero regrets. She says, “Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport.”
