Legendary Heavyweight Boxing Champion George Foreman Passes at 76

With very heavy hearts we report that legendary Heavyweight Boxing Champion George Foreman has passed at 76. Foreman was the epitome of the American dream. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. But he took advantage of his athleticism and talents; training diligently as well as honing his skills plus technique. Which allowed him to go on to become an Olympic gold medalist in 1968 and a two-time heavyweight champion by essentially authoring two Hall-of-Fame careers in one over the span of three decades.

What made his boxing career even more remarkable. Is that he became a champion again well into his 40’s. Truly demonstrating that his career had longevity and he wasn’t washed towards the end of it. He was still the MAN.

In fact, George’s last title fight and last win occurred at the age of 48. He retained his WBU heavyweight title with a split decision that famously ended Lou Savarese’s unbeaten record. He retired in 1997 at the age of 48, with a final record of 76 wins (68 knockouts) and 5 losses, one of the famous losses coming at the hands of Muhammad Ali.

As one can see, Foreman is such a loss to the sports community. He leaves an indelible mark. Regarding his legacy, a statement from his family:

“Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.

A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply respected – a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name— for his family.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”

Yes, Foreman definitely lived a life full of purpose. Not only was he a highly decorated athlete and boxer. But he also became a very successful businessman.
