Las Vegas Raiders Have Placed Defensive End Maxx Crosby On Injured Reserve

As the 2025 NFL regular season nears its close, more players are being deactivated due to injuries. Notable quarterbacks have been on injured reserve such as Atlanta Falcons’ Michael Penix and Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals. Recently joining them have been Indianapolis Colts’ Daniel Jones and Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. But the defensive side of the ball has been hit too. Today the Las Vegas Raiders have placed defensive end, Maxx Crosby, on the injured reserve.

The Las Vegas Raiders posted a statement about their Crosby decision on the team website, which states:

“We have made the decision to place Maxx Crosby on the Reserve/Injured list for the remainder of the 2025 season. After deliberate and thorough consultation with multiple top medical professionals, it became clear that this decision is in the best interest of both the franchise and the player. Maxx is the ultimate warrior, and he has fought extremely hard to compete each week with his teammates since injuring his knee mid-season.

We are grateful for his extraordinary contributions. He is a true Raider on and off the field – we look forward to his leadership and toughness into 2026 and beyond.”

Now Crosby will have the opportunity to rehab his knee and get ready for the next season. Per FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer, Crosby was not happy about the decision. He posted the following:

Scoopage: Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building @nflonfox has learned. This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas.”

His absence at this late date won’t make a difference to the team that currently sits at 2-13. They will face the 2-13 New York Giants tomorrow and Week 18 they will face the Kansas City Chiefs with their 6-10 record.

Meanwhile Crosby will have a meniscus trim on his knee in the offseason, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Rapoport adds that a quick recovery is expected. Crosby has been selected to his fifth Pro Bowl in his seven year NFL career. This season he provided 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 6 passes defensed, 1 interception and 2 forced fumbles. He was one of the few bright spots of the organization.

We were impressed and pleased with the comeback and success that Geno Smith experienced with the Seattle Seahawks. Smith signed a two-year, $75 million extension with the Las Vegas Raiders in April 2025. Pairing him with 74 year-old head coach Pete Carroll hasn’t produced the desired result. However, it feels safe to say that Crosby will be ready to go in September, 2026. Wishing a speedy recovery to Crosby!
