Lamar Jackson Returned Baltimore Ravens Got Thursday Night Victory Over Dolphins
He had missed multiple games due to a lingering hamstring injury. But Quarterback Lamar Jackson returned and the Baltimore Ravens got the Thursday night victory over the Miami Dolphins. It was a tale of two halves for both teams. The first half should have been the Dolphins for the taking but the second half was all Ravens.
Miami was moving the ball in the first half with little resistance from the Ravens’ defense. Jaylen Waddle was a favorite target of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while De’Von Achane did the heavy lifting for the running game. However, on their first possession of the game they settled for a 49-yard field goal. As for the Ravens it was clear that Lamar Jackson was trying to knock the rust off after his three-game absence.
But the Ravens defense stepped up causing Tahj Washington to fumble the ball which was recovered by Alohi Gilman. Starting at the Miami 7 yard line, the Ravens’ offense got the ball into the end zone. On 4th & 2 Jackson found his tight end Mark Andrews for the touchdown. After the fumble the Dolphins had more miscues. On their next possession they missed a 35-yard field goal, wide right.
The 2nd quarter started with Baltimore scoring another touchdown on a 20-yard reception to Andrews while Miami had to punt. Largely in part due to a 15-yard tripping penalty on Ollie Gordon. It looked more like he stumbled and fell as opposed to trying to leg-whip the defender. On a different drive Miami committed a false start penalty and eventually turned the ball over on downs. Later on they kicked a 43-yard field goal. However, both teams had a chance to possess the ball before halftime but couldn’t get a score. The Ravens had the halftime lead of 14-6.

Starting the second half the Ravens came out on a mission. Jackson stuck with his tight ends and this time found Charlie Koler for the easy 3-yard touchdown. Miami’s miscues continued as they incurred an Illegal Block Above the Waist 10-yard penalty. Which was followed by a 6-yard sack of Tagovailoa and negative 1- yard run for Achane. All of which resulted in a punt followed by another Ravens touchdown, a 9-yard reception by Rashod Bateman.
The fourth quarter brought another miscue for Miami when Malik Washington fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Marlon Humphrey. Baltimore couldn’t capitalize on the turnover but it didn’t much matter because Miami committed another turnover. Tagovailoa tried to throw a deep ball intended for Tahj Washington and was intercepted by Malaki Starks. And that was the game as Baltimore ran out the clock winning 28-6.
Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel’s job could be on the hot seat and tonight’s game didn’t do him any favors.
