LA Sparks Cameron Brink Will Not Participate in Unrivaled Due to Injury Rehab

We are just days away from the commencement of the newest women’s basketball league. Unrivaled’s inaugural season is slated to begin on January 17, 2025 in Miami, Florida. However, big plans for expansion are already underway and in the works. The 3×3 league is moving and shaking so that the 2026 season will have games not just played in one city but across the United States. Fans are excited to see many of their favorite WNBA stars involved; however, one name is officially pulling out till next season. On Monday, LA Sparks Cameron Brink revealed she will not participate in Unrivaled due to her knee injury rehab.

In a post on social media platform Instagram, Brink shared her Unrivaled announcement. She states,

“Appreciation post & life update : Unrivaled was kind enough to allow me to still join even though l’m still fresh in my ACL recovery. I spent the first 2 weeks with my amazing team, coaches, and trainers and I’m leaving feeling more healed and confident in my knee than ever. I’m sad to be leaving (due to work, continuing my rehab, and needing to be in LA) but I will be back with my girls soon.

Ultimately, I’m so thankful I was able to be in that environment, as hard as it was to sit and watch from the sidelines. It’s a reminder everyday that I’m closer to getting back to what I love.”

Brink was named to the Unrivaled Lunar Owls as a wild card. The rest of the roster includes names like Napheesa Collier, Courtney Williams and Skylar Diggins-Smith. At this time, it is unknown if Unrivaled will bring someone in to replace Brink due to injury.

In 2024 Cameron was a part of the league transforming 2024 rookie draft class that included Caitlin Clark, Rickea Jackson, Kate Martin and Angel Reese. Upon becoming a Los Angeles Sparks player, Cameron immediately impressed and had an impact on both sides of the ball.

Brink started her rookie season well before suffering an ACL injury after just 15 games. She was finally feeling more comfortable in the W and getting into a groove averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks before the season-ending injury occurred. Cameron has been working hard to get her knee back in order. She has spent months rehabbing in preparation for a return to the court; however, Brink has been unable to participate in Unrivaled practice, the new 3-on-3 league she signed a two-year contract with.

But the basketball star is optimistic. She still plans on being ready for the 2025 WNBA season which begins on Friday, May 16. We wish Brink the best in her recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the court soon.
