LA Galaxy Parts Ways with President Chris Klein- The Fans Have Spoken

The rumor mill is hot this week, however one piece of talk is proving to be no mere myth. The LA Galaxy Parts Ways with President Chris Klein in a plot twist that is leaving an entire city in a song, dance and celebratory state.

The organization made a statement in a press release stating:

“The LA Galaxy have parted ways with President, Chris Klein. It was announced today by Dan Beckerman, President, and CEO of AEG. LA Galaxy Head Coach and Sporting Director Greg Vanney will continue to lead all soccer operations while reporting directly to Beckerman.

As a Club we have not achieved our goals or met the standard that we have established for the LA Galaxy. We believe it is in the best interest of the Club to make a change; and begin a comprehensive process to seek new leadership that will return the Club to the level that our fans and partners expect. We are thankful to Chris for his years of dedication and commitment to the LA Galaxy as both a player and an executive.”

Short and sweet. Chris Klein is 47 years young; spending 13 years in Major League Soccer as a player. Since 2013 he’s served as the President of the LA Galaxy.

Does Chris Klein have anything to say on this matter. Yes. Even though we must be tough dealing with this decision after a decade long tenure; Klein is letting Los Angeles soccer fans know he still appreciates being apart of the Club’s journey. Chris states:

“I’d like to thank Phil Anschutz and Dan Beckerman for the opportunity to serve as president for the LA Galaxy for the past 11 years. My family and I love this club and I’m grateful to have spent 16 years with this organization as a player and an executive. Thank you to our supporters, partners, players, coaches, and staff for all the passion dedication and hard work.”

So how in the world did we get here? Well, for one, fans being unhappy. If ‘I need to speak to the manager’ was an entity, it would proudly be the protesting fans of the Galaxy. Moreover, the other issue is simply that the team is not playing very well. A deadly combination for any club.

This is just another story on how former players don’t always make for the best options in coaching, management or executive positions. However, it’s also a new day for the soccer club. Time to start fixing roster issues, help fans heal and get back to winning.
