“As I reflect on my 16 seasons with the Yankees organization, I have nothing but gratitude to express to the fans, my teammates, the organization, and the Steinbrenner family for the many incredible moments we have all shared during my time in pinstripes. From the day I was drafted, to sharing a spring training clubhouse with Hall of Fame players as a 19 year old kid, to finally making my Major League debut after 10 years in the minor leagues, to taking an eternity to get my first hit, to having a 3-homer game, catching a no hitter and a perfect game, watching Judge hit 62 and Cole win the Cy Young. I’ve made so many memories and formed so many relationships within this organization that I am so grateful for. Thank you to my teammates for being like brothers to me and
always pushing me to be the best player I can be.

Thank you to the organization and the Steinbrenner family for the opportunities given to me that have allowed me to become a Major League ballplayer. And thank you to the fans for always making me feel at home and loved in New York. It blew my mind every time I would see a 66 jersey in the wild! There aren’t many of them, but the fact that anyone would spend their hard earned money just to support me is crazy to think about.”

“Without all you fans, we wouldn’t be getting paid to play a game for a living so thank you again! Now, I am incredibly excited to start this new chapter in my career as a San Diego Padre, getting to know a new group of guys and working towards
bringing a world championship to San Diego!”
