Today many are giving thanks for a day filled with football. Kicking off NFL Thursday Green Bay gobbled up Detroit and left no crumbs. It started with a masterful opening drive. Jordan Love threw a 53 yard bomb to Christian Watson. After a few more plays Love threw a quick touchdown pass to Watson again. Not to be outdone, the Lions returned the favor and scored a touchdown on their opening drive but missed the extra point.
After that the first half belonged to the Packers. Love had almost 200 hundred yards passing and two touchdowns. The Lions had two turnovers which have been a problem for them of late. Goff was off on some of his throws. His receivers were running wrong routes. So the score at the half was 23-6.
On the opening third quarter drive the Lions angrily drove the field and scored a touchdown. But the Lions decided to go for it on a 4th & 4 in Packers territory and didn’t make it. The Packers then scored a touchdown and maintained a fifteen point lead going into the fourth quarter. Starting the fourth quarter the Lions again went for it on fourth down. Again they couldn’t convert. They were 0-3 on fourth down at that point.
However, I’m not surprised they went for it because that’s they way Dan Campbell has been coaching all season. And most of the time the risk has paid off for them, but not today. Once more at the Green Bay 12 yard line the Lions went for a 4th & 7. They didn’t get it. However they scored a touchdown late in the quarter. When they went for the onside kick with :41 on the clock the Packers recovered the ball. And that was the game, final score 29-22.

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers had themselves a game. They are on a roll and starting to make playoff noise. If they get back some of their defensive players they could be on to something.
Next up is Washington Commanders @ Dallas Cowboys. That will be followed by San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks. Two division games that ought to be entertaining. And the cornucopia of football just keeps giving. Tomorrow we will experience the first ever Black Friday Football game featuring Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets. Let the good times roll!
