Khyree Jackson Foundation Unveiled By Family Of Former NFL Draft Pick

He was the fourth round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft. Much beloved and admired by everyone he came in contact with, his future in the league was very bright. But tragically, Khyree Jackson’s life and the lives of two of his former high school teammates were taken in a car accident. The car crash happened on July 6, 2024 when another driver was attempting to change lanes at a high speed. In order to bring about some good from that tragedy the Khyree Jackson Foundation has been unveiled by the family of the former NFL Draft pick.

His parents, Ebbony and Raymond Jackson, want to honor the memory their son who touched so many lives. Their aim is to inspire the next generation of young athletes and students to use their talents to positively influence their communities. The foundation’s mission and vision clearly states their objectives in the statement below:

“Khyree believed in using his talents to make a difference. We’re keeping his spirit alive by providing opportunities for young athletes and students to foster faith, determination, humility, perseverance and authenticity. With our football camps, scholarships and community outreach, we’re helping the next generation live up to Khyree’s motto: ‘God didn’t give me these skills to go to waste.'”

“Khyree’s motto serves as a reminder that talent must be nurtured and used purposefully as we believe young athletes have the potential to achieve greatness, not just in sports but in life. We’re fostering a culture of resilience and encouraging young people to embrace their journey, rise above challenges and make an impact in this world.”

In preparation for the upcoming offseason program, the Vikings invited the Jackson family Thursday to collect Khyree’s belongings from his locker. And share their plans for the foundation with staff, coaches and teammates.

The family shared that the Khyree Jackson Foundation will utilize football camps, scholarships and community outreach. To support children and families — with a focus on underserved communities.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell had kind words for the family and their son. He made his thoughts very clear when he stated:

“We just hope you know, and your whole family knows that, some of us got to know each other under very tough circumstances, but the love from our organization for you and your family and Khyree will be something that we cherish forever,” he said. “We appreciate you being here today and allowing us to be a part of this time.

“We just want to thank you and your family for allowing us to be a part of his life; we feel so fortunate to have selected him and brought him here to be a Minnesota Viking,” O’Connell said.

Losing a child is an indescribable loss. But the Jackson family is determined not to let his death be in vain. Out of the ashes rises hope for everyone.
