Kansas City Chiefs Will Be Missing Players On Thursday Night
We’ve all been looking forward to the start of the NFL 2024 regular season. And this week Baltimore will head to Kansas City to kick things off. But the Kansas City Chiefs will be missing some players on Thursday night. Clyde Edwards-Helaire and rookie Ricky Pearsall are expected to miss at least the first four games of the season. And Marquise “Hollywood” Brown will likely not play either.
Five-year veteran Edwards-Helaire was placed on the non-football illness list to start the regular season. He has been battling PTSD and opened up about his battle with the disorder last month. The condition began in December 2018 over what he described as a “self-defense situation.” It’s caused him to miss time at training camp. He points to that incident nearly six years ago as the cause. He and another LSU teammate reportedly tried to sell an electronic item when one of them shot and killed an 18-year-old man trying to rob them. Prosecutors cleared Edwards-Helaire and his friend, Jared Small. Officials did not name the shooter.
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy offered some comments about Edwards-Helaire:
“It’s for me; how I look at it is just from the personal side. We all have different things that we go through and Clyde is such a special person,” Nagy said. “He’s a great human being. “I think, number one, everybody in this building wants to make sure that Clyde is good on that side and that he’s happy and enjoying everything that he does, because when he’s in the building, he’s phenomenal. So that’s number one, and then the other stuff all takes care of itself.”
Hopefully he will heal and return to action soon.

Last week rookie Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest in a robbery attempt and was taken to the hospital. He has since been released and is recovering. According to his mother, in a social media post Sunday, the bullet exited out her son’s back and missed his vital organs, adding that he is “extremely lucky.” That’s great news and we wish a speedy recovery to Pearsall.
Also, Marquise Brown suffered a shoulder injury during the preseason opener against Jacksonville. Brown will likely miss the regular season opener. Kansas City will take the cautious approach with Brown knowing that he could return quickly enough so there’s no need to rush things.
In the meantime, it should be an exciting game to start the season off and I can’t wait!
