Kansas City Chiefs' Wide Receiver Rashee Rice To Face Disciplinary Hearing September 30

Kansas City Chiefs’ Wide Receiver Rashee Rice To Face Disciplinary Hearing September 30

The talented pass-catcher had caught the attention of the general public, but not in a good way. It’s been almost a year and a half since the devastating multi-car crash. Now that the judicial and civil cases have been decided upon, it’s time for the league to weigh in on the matter. As reported by Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver Rashee Rice is to face a disciplinary hearing on September 30, 2025. He is expected to receive a multi-game suspension for violation of the personal conduct policy.

On March 30, 2024 Rice had been driving a Lamborghini at high speeds up to 119 mph. He and another driver had been racing when both lost control of their vehicles and caused a multi-car crash on a Dallas highway. Several people were injured and two were hospitalized. Rice turned himself in and pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to the incident.

Rice was sentenced to 5 years of probation and 30 days in jail. He was also ordered to pay over $115,000 in restitution to the victims. Rice also agreed to a civil settlement with one of the victims, paying $1 million plus interest. However, because he received deferred adjudication, if he successfully completes the probation, the case will be dismissed. And he appears to have grasped the severity of the incident. According to ESPN, he said:

“All I can do is focus on what I can control right now, and that’s me doing what I do best right here on the field,” Rice said earlier this month. “I learned just how valuable any opportunity and moment is. This right here, us being able to be on the field and be coached by Coach [Andy] Reid and have such a great quarterback, is honestly a gift, a blessing.

“I’ve completely changed. Honestly, you have to learn from things like that. I’ve taken advantage of being able to learn from something like that.”

The good news for Rice, is that he will likely be available for the first four weeks of the season. The Chiefs will be playing games against the Chargers in Brazil, the Eagles, at the Giants and the Ravens. They will need his help against the reigning Super Bowl Champion Eagles and the offensive juggernaut of the Ravens and Chargers. However, the Chiefs are loaded at the wide receiver position. So the likely suspension of Rice could knock him down the depth chart.

But top wide receivers don’t grow on trees so he may get through the suspension somewhat unscathed. But only time will tell how things turn out.
