Kansas City Chiefs Put the Freeze On the Dolphins
We knew it was going to be extremely cold temperatures for this game. And in line with that the Kansas City Chiefs put the freeze on the Dolphins. The Dolphins definitely weren’t in Miami but the Chiefs defense kept bringing the heat.
All season long the Dolphins produced big play after big play. But that didn’t happen today. During three quarters of the game the Chiefs defense held Miami to 151 yards and did not allow them to convert on seven third down attempts. They also shut down the Dolphins run game, plugging holes to prevent big gains. In the first quarter they picked off Tagovailoa which resulted in a field goal for the Chiefs.
Another grave error made by the Dolphins was to keep blitzing Mahomes. Being that their defense was already thin that was a bad decision. Because Mahomes just carved them up. He’s known for playing especially well against the blitz and tonight was no exception. He wasn’t flustered by the rush but continued to find the open receivers.
However, the red zone still remained an issue for the Chiefs. Six opportunities resulted in 2 touchdowns and four field goals. That will have to be rectified going forward in the playoffs.
After struggling offensively all season they picked a good time to come alive. Because they were working efficiently on offense, they limited Miami’s opportunities to get their offense on the field. And when they were on the field there wasn’t much to cheer about. The 53 yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill was the only highlight of the offense.

Miami turned the ball over on downs three times. And I also wonder how much of a factor the freezing temperatures had to do with their demise. But they definitely didn’t bring their high powered offense to the field. And the defensive scheme employed was all wrong for this opponent.
Still they had a great season and no doubt they will be contenders again next season. Congrats to the Chiefs on their ice cold victory. Tomorrow, Super Wild Card Weekend continues with the Packers @ Cowboys 4:30 PM EST. Followed by the Rams @ Lions at 8:15 PM EST.
