Kansas City Chiefs GM Believes Travis Kelce Will Return For 2025 Season

It has been a bit over two weeks since Super Bowl LIX. And this amount of time has given one high profile player plenty of space to think about his football career. As an athlete gets older, there is always one burning question; will they retire or comeback for another season? Well, KC’s legendary tight-end is close to making up his mind. In fact, on Tuesday Kansas City Chiefs GM states he believes Travis Kelce will decide to return for the 2025-2026 season; which will be his 13th.

Call it a finale. Perhaps one more dance. But the Chiefs general manager is going on record with confidence that Kelce is set to return in the fall. Thus, joining his KC brethren in trying to yet again, get one more championship together.

Despite a quite devastating loss in the Super Bowl this year to the Philadelphia Eagles. No doubt Travis and the Chiefs franchise still reflected on some of the positives. The team still did in fact get back to the Super Bowl. They had an opportunity to three-peat. They have a DAWG in Xavier Worthy. And during the regular season they won fifteen games.

With such points in mind, the Kansas City organization most likely feels the team can still perform well and have a solid year. Therefore, according to the GM; these positive vibes are having a powerful effect and has Travis excited to get back on that field, shake off the loss; and show the world that the Chiefs can still be among the best. General manager Brett Veach said Tuesday the Kansas City Chiefs are planning for Travis Kelce to play in 2025, adding the veteran tight end “has that fire and desire to play.” Veach continues,

“How we left at the end of the season is that he was fired up,” Veach said at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. “I think we left it as he’d be back and were excited to get him back and get him going.”

Coach Andy Reid expressed that he believes it will work out with Travis coming back instead of retiring as well. But he mentions he also told Kelce to get away so he can think clearly. Reid says,

“I think it will all work out. But I’m big on that, I’m big on stepping away. I mean, Trav is positive. There’s no negative to it. But step back and get yourself away from it. … You just think clearer. We obviously hope he’s coming back. He’s been positive in that direction. We’ll cross all that here next week or so.”

Therefore, the general manager and head coach are feeling good about a Travis Kelce return. They are tentatively expecting it. However, in the next few days we will know for sure from the player himself.
