Justin Jefferson And Vikings Agree to Mega Contract Extension

They tried to get a deal done last year but it didn’t come to fruition. Other teams that inquired about trading for him were sent packing. So now after 10 long months Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings agree to a mega contract extension. This is a record breaking deal according to Adam Schefter who posted the details on x.com. Jefferson signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension that includes $110 million guaranteed. Plus $88.743 million due at the contract signing. That makes him the the highest-paid WR in NFL history and the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. Wow!

Heading into his fifth season, Jefferson has put up some impressive stats. Through his first four seasons he has more yards (5,899) than any receiver in history edging out Michael Thomas, Randy Moss, CeeDee Lamb, A.J. Green, Torry Holt, and Jerry Rice. Despite missing seven games due to injuries in 2023 he still piled up 1,074 yards. That’s the most ever by an NFL player who had played 10 or fewer games in a season. In 2022 Jefferson was named Offensive Player of the Year. He has averaged 98.3 receiving yards per game, the most in NFL history for any career span.

With such impressive stats it’s no wonder the Vikings owners had high praise for Jefferson. “Over the first four seasons of his career, Justin entrenched himself as the best wide receiver and one of the most electric players in the NFL,” Vikings Owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said. “He is a special talent, a committed teammate and an excellent representative of the Vikings. Justin has earned this contract, and we are thrilled he will remain a Minnesota Viking for a very long time.”

Head coach Kevin O’Connell also had good things to say regarding Jefferson. “Justin is an exceptionally talented player and an incredible person that I am honored to coach and have as a team captain. His positive energy and love for the game shows up every single day as he works to be the best at his craft.” Besides being a team captain, Jefferson will figure prominently in the Netflix Receiver docuseries scheduled for release later this summer.

He has proven what a great wide receiver he already is and he won’t turn 25 until June 16. That means he has plenty of time to continue breaking records and to build on his solid legacy. In fact, he said to Vikings fans everywhere, “you’ll continue to get my very best each and every day. SKOL!”

And Skol to you Justin on your record-breaking extension!
