Justin Herbert and DeAndre Hopkins Sustain Injuries

Justin Herbert And DeAndre Hopkins Sustain Injuries

Two super stars have been hurt in training camp. We know these things happen but it’s especially scary when big name veterans go down. Both QB Justin Herbert of the Chargers and WR DeAndre Hopkins of the Titans sustained injuries this week. As the starting QB for the Chargers that would be a devastating blow to the team to lose him.

However, there is good news for Herbert. He was diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot following Wednesday’s practice. Today the team announced that they expected him to be sidelined for at least two weeks. For now Herbert will be sporting a walking boot. But he is expected to be ready to start the first game of the regular season, where they will face off with the Lions in Detroit.

The Rams have also suffered multiple injuries with their offensive linemen. Head coach Sean McVay said today, Jonah Jackson is week-to-week with a shoulder injury. Jackson left Tuesday’s training camp practice early and did not return. Offensive lineman Rob Havenstein left practice with a foot injury. McVay said he didn’t have any immediate information beyond that, other than “it sounded like he (Havenstein) got stepped on.” Finally, there wasn’t much of an update on Alaric Jackson and his ankle injury, other than he will “be back sooner than later.”

Wide Receiver extraordinaire DeAndre Hopkins has a knee injury. He suffered the injury during practice and is expected to miss about four weeks, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Thursday. We hate to hear about knee injuries, but it sounds like Hopkins’ injury won’t keep him sidelined too long. The Titans hope to have him back and ready to go for their season opener.

At 32, the team will tread carefully as they handle his injury. Also, he is their top wide receiver and was the favorite weapon of QB’s Ryan Tannehill and Will Levis last season. He’s also a three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler. So the Titans will need Hopkins this season if they want to climb out of the AFC South basement.

Hopefully the players will all have fast and successful recoveries.
