JuJu Watkins Scores 51 Points- Breaks Cheryl Miller’s Record; Sets USC Single-Game Scoring Record!
Say it with us everyone… “she’s just a freshman!” Yes, we already knew JuJu was going to be special. However, already she is cementing herself and her name in the legendary category. In a fantastic display of athleticism, USC’s JuJu Watkins scores 51 points against Stanford.
Nonetheless, this win is no small feat. USC went into the matchup ranked number 12. In the end, they walk away victorious; bringing down the mighty number 2 ranked Stanford women’s basketball team.
Even wilder, is that the final score of the game is 67-58. In other words, Watkins just about put up the same amount of points as the ENTIRE Stanford team. So then, JuJu straight up balled out and carried her team on her back.
By the time it’s all over; Watkins literally left Stanford stunned. Sports writer, R.J. Abeytia for 247 Sports, reports the scene,
“JuJu Watkins’ iconic 51-point dismantling of No. 4 Stanford instantly is a part of USC WBB lore. JuJu Watkins is so dominant she’s traumatized Stanford’s offense in addition to devouring its defense. She was so good on offense that Stanford’s players were completely lost on BOTH ends of the floor in her wake.
[USC’s] Juju Watkins is staring at a pretty pointless two more years of college. She’s a WNBA star right now.”
We could not agree more. Watkins is going to be a FORCE; and one of the players that elevates the WNBA to new heights. Nevertheless, on her way to 51 points, Watkins just kept making history. 247 Sports, Shotgun Spratling, gave a nice historical lesson as the game progresses. Spratling mentioned,
JuJu Watkins is now tied (along with Karon Howell against Arizona in 1989) for the third-most points in a single game with 46.
JuJu Watkins is now tied (along with Tina Thompson against UCLA in 1996) for the second-most points in a single game with 49.
JuJu Watkins has set the USC WBB program record with FIFTY-ONE points on the road against the No. 4 team in the nation!!
Unbelievable.
Before tonight, USC WBB had won only once at Stanford since 1987.

With 40 points, JuJu Watkins has broken Cheryl Miller’s record for the most points by a freshman in USC Women’s Basketball history.
She scored 40 through 3 quarters.
JuJu Watkins finished with 51 points at No. 4 Stanford:
– It’s the most points in USC WBB history and the 2nd-most in Pac-12 history
– Most points vs top-5 team over last 25 seasons
– 2nd freshman in last 25 seasons with 50-point game (Elena Delle Donne)
– Scored 76% of team’s points, highest pct in last 25 seasons.
