When you are a generational player, these kinds of honors just seem to become routine. While the 2023 season was not the best for the San Diego Padres; their unfortunate season still did not prevent Soto from shining bright. Due to his talent and efforts, Juan Soto wins 2023 Silver Slugger Award at just 25 years of age.
This is no small feat. Many Major League Baseball athletes would love to win one Silver Slugger; much less a fourth one. Moreover, Juan Soto’s achievement becomes even more momentous and remarkable when you consider that he only has six years of major league experience under his belt. And out of those six wondrous years; Soto now is a winner of a Silver Slugger Award in four of them. Winning his silvery prize in 2020, 2021, 2022 and now 2023.
He splits his batting achievements between two teams. Two while with the Washington Nationals, and now two with the San Diego Padres franchise. Regardless of one of the biggest trades in modern baseball history; GM/Manager beef, or any other recent possible distraction; Juan is not allowing anything to slow down his insane level of play.

Furthermore, with a fourth Silver Slugger under his belt, Soto is joining some pretty nice company. Juan’s swing and talent is not only angelic; he now shares a record with a literal Los Angeles Angel. Mike Trout to be exact.
Before Mike Trout hit 25, he had been the recipient of few Silver Slugger honors himself. Trout shocks the world in his mid-twenties by racking up four Silver Slugger awards! Now at barely 25 himself, Soto now ties Trout as being one of the only MLB players to win four before turning 25.
Flash to the present and Trout now possesses nine in total. Moreover, Juan Soto has plenty of more time to be able to tack on to his legacy as well. Plus, by the looks of the 2023 season Soto is definitely in his prime to make it happen.
2023 did not even feel like one of Soto’s “best” seasons. Yet, the numbers do not lie. Soto puts on a dominating performance and bats:
- 35 Home Runs (a career high)
- 109 RBI
- 158 OPS+
- 132 BB (First)
Therefore, it is not hard to see why every team is salivating over the thought of having him on their rosters. However, for now it is just a dream for them. Soto is still under contract with the Padres, and as his agent, Scott Boras; states he is a part of a “plan” for the Padres’ 2024 season. Sorry boys… Soto, for now, is taken.
