Jimmy Johnson Is Retiring From FOX Sports and TV Broadcasting

He’s given the sports world his very best and then some. However, now it is time to drop the curtain. On Monday, it was announced that Jimmy Johnson is retiring from FOX Sports and TV broadcasting.

Johnson has been a football mainstay for decades. Having been a coach of the game for some three decades. And a sports broadcaster for just about the same amount of time. To be more exact, the two-time Super Bowl-winning coach began his on-air career 31 years ago as an NFL analyst. Therefore, losing such a National Football League treasure, constant as well as presence will certainly be felt by the football and sports community.

FOX Sports announced Jimmy’s departure by stating, “How about that Jimmy Johnson! Congratulations coach, thank you and all the best from your FOX Sports and NFL on FOX
family as you set sail into retirement.”

FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks also released a statement of his very own about Jimmy Johnson’s retirement. He says,

“Jimmy Johnson was there when FOX NFL SUNDAY came on-air for the first time 31 years ago, and since then has been a cherished member of our FOX Sports family, which makes today’s retirement news bittersweet.

Jimmy served as an inspiration to generations of football fans with his legendary swagger, one-of-a-kind insight and signature humor. From his motivating pep talks to his unmatched energy over the years, he was our coach who always pushed us to be better. We’re incredibly grateful for his contributions in making FOX NFL SUNDAY the top pregame show on TV, where we shared countless memorable moments, highlighted by surprising him live on-air with the news he was being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame – an occasion we will never forget.

Coach will be sincerely missed and we wish him the best as he sets sail into retirement, like only Jimmy Johnson can.”

He certainly will be missed. Johnson was always an energetic, ball of fun on-air. And he loved every moment of it. Regarding his time as an analyst for FOX Sports Johnson mentions, “I loved every minute of it. Thanks to FOX Sports. It was really the best time of my entire career.”
