Jayson Tatum Reaches 10,000 NBA Points

Jayson Tatum Reaches 10,000 NBA Points- Youngest in Franchise History!

Drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2017, and just a few mere years later; this young man is already making franchise as well as basketball history! Yes, Jayson Tatum reaches 10,000 NBA points, an extraordinary feat; as the Celtics simultaneously move on to an impressive 5-0. How did this record come about during a recent matchup against the Brooklyn Nets?

Well, going into the game, Jayson only needed 16 points to reach the coveted 10k. Only 2 quarters are necessary. Midway through the second Tatum already possesses 15 points and with a free throw (after he is fouled by a defender); Jayson hits the target… 16 points. The NBA immediately confirms the news. The National Basketball Association announces,

“Jayson Tatum gets the bucket and the foul! With the free throw, Jayson Tatum becomes the 15th player in NBA history to reach 10,000 total points prior to turning 26 years old.”

Yet, hold up… it’s gets even better. This accomplishment also sets a new Celtics record. Literally, faster than any other Celtic player, Tatum is now the franchise’s youngest player to reach 10,000 career points; (the next youngest is Antoine Walker at 26 years, 131 days). Amazing. Especially, when you think of all the players, greats as well as legends to bear “Celtics” across their chests.

Nevertheless, here we are in a new era. At just 25 years and 246 days of age; Tatum is the 10th-youngest player in NBA history to hit 10K. Furthermore, being so young and early into his career; there is still so many elite levels and peaks that Jayson could reach.

However, Tatum is already in good company. With this latest triumph, he joins the likes of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony as well as Kevin Durant. Other NBA stars to youthfully attain the 10K mark. Yet, here Jayson Tatum now writes in his name; standing before the world as the first NBA player ever to record 10,000 points and 1000 three pointers before turning 26.

Nonetheless, the entire Celtics team are extremely happy about their teammate’s success and pure dominance of the game. For instance, Joe Mazzulla shares a few words on Jayson Tatum reaching 10,000 career points. Mazzulla says,

“He’s one of the guys that sets the tone for us. [Also] because he’s willing to be pushed to the ultimate limit; it allows us to do that to everybody. I’m really proud of him.”

Glowing comments indeed. However, there is one person, (actually make that two people); in particular that Jayson is especially thrilled to have witnessed his 10k moment. Tatum revealed all when speaking with the media after his historic game. He states,

“To share that moment with [my mom and grandma] was cool… 10,000 points sounds crazy to just think about. You know I always think about when I was a kid; growing up with my mom and saying I wanted to be in the NBA.

I may have thought I would be one of the best players. But to actually do it, is a surreal feeling. So I’m just living out my dream.”
