Jason Kelce Retires From the NFL

Seeing a grown man cry after a legendary career will just hit you in the heart strings every single time. You just know the guy gave his all, every single play; leaving nothing in the tank and everything on the field. Therefore, it’s a scene after the Eagles’ super wildcard weekend loss, that football fans won’t soon forget. Nevertheless, as many assumed would be the case, Jason Kelce retires from the NFL.

Wish things could of ended on a better note for such a great, talented player. Even those that aren’t necessarily Eagles fans can easily find something about Jason to respect and appreciate. So then, seeing him go, feels like a real a loss for football.

Furthermore, once the last few seconds tick off the clock in a game against the Buccaneers; the consensus among many, is that we just witnessed Kelce’s final game. Mike Garafolo, a member of the NFL Network acknowledges this sentiment. Garafolo says,

“Jason Kelce once again faces a decision about his future. Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham are also slated to be free agents. This feels like an Eagles team in transition in many ways. Lots of questions to be answered.”

Well, the answer comes soon. Jason is waving goodbye to all. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reveals,

“Six-time All-Pro and future Hall-of-Fame center Jason Kelce told his Eagles’ teammates in Monday night’s postgame locker room that he is in fact retiring, per league sources.

The 36-year-old Kelce became visibly emotional at the end of the Eagles’ 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers. He has considered retiring after other recent seasons, but this time is said to be real and happening.

Jason Kelce is the fifth center in NFL history with at least six All-Pro selections. The other four — Jim Otto, Bulldog Turner, Dermotti Dawson, Jim Ringo — are all in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

What a career. Mike Garafolo also confirms the story of Kelce telling his teammates about his retirement. Mike mentions,

“Eagles C Jason Kelce informed teammates after last night’s loss he will retire, as Adam Schefter said. Kelce’s emotional final few moments on the field, in which he hugged longtime OL coach Jeff Stoutland, wrapped up a 13-year, seven-time Pro Bowl, six-time All-Pro career.”

While the chapter on Jason’s playing days conclude. We are sure we’ll still be hearing and seeing plenty from him. From commercials to commentary, as well as more podcasts; Kelce will still impact sports and bring enjoyment to fans.

Nevertheless, it’s still hard to find the right words and expressions in moments such as this. However, we feel RGIII did a pretty solid job. Robert says,

“Jason Kelce has elevated the game of football and the awareness of just how awesome Offensive Lineman are. He is a Hall of Famer on the field and off it he is a STAR. Congrats on retirement my brother, you gave the game everything you had.”

Agreed, Griffin, agreed. Jason was such a fun player to watch. Enjoy retirement Kelce.
