Pitching is everything and it wins championships. And most teams are in need of an extremely effective arm. Therefore, ball clubs are salivating over Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki of the Chiba Lotte Marines being posted to the MLB.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan helped to break the news. He reveals,

“The Chiba Lotte Marines are posting Roki Sasaki, the 23-year-old right-hander regarded as one of the best pitchers in the world, paving the way for him to play Major League Baseball in 2025.

It remains unknown when Roki Sasaki will be posted and whether he’ll be in the int’l Class of 2024 or 2025. Further, the perception he is bound to end up a Los Angeles Dodger is extremely premature.”

But the Dodgers does make sense as a front runner. Ohtani is there and won a championship in his first season with the team. Being on a winning team could prove to be a huge attraction. However, you can’t leave out the San Diego Padres. Sasaki knows Yu Darvish well, they share an agent and Darvish helped Roki learn a particular pitch. The Padres did make the playoffs as well; therefore, they could be another prime destination for Sasaki.

However, let’s face it… everyone shall try. Tons of teams will want him. From both New York teams, the Rays, Cubs and Red Sox, etc. This is a talented guy who is an ACE. Heck, you could see greatness oozing from him even during his high school days.

For instance, half a decade ago during a national high school tournament; Sasaki left jaws on the floor. Over an eight-day period, he threw more than 500 pitches, including a 12-inning, 21-strikeout, and 194-pitch complete game. INSANE.

However, Sasaki’s road to the majors hasn’t been easy. His family over the years has had to rebuild their lives and fight hard for a better future. Therefore, Roki knows better than anyone the meaning of hard work and what it means to go from “little to much.” According to FOX Sports:

“When Roki Sasaki was 9 years old, he lost his father, his grandparents, and his home during the horrible earthquake and Tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011.

On that day 12 years later, he made his WBC debut for Team Japan in front of 64 MLB scouts and executives.

Now the young Japanese phenom appears to be heading to the Majors next season.”

As one can see, things are shaping up to be a very nice feel good sports story. Sasaki is going to get to play in Major League Baseball and earn a very nice paycheck. Now we all just have to wait and see how the Sasaki sweepstakes play out and which baseball organization he chooses to call home.
