WHAT A THRILLER! Jannik has truly conquered the hard court, his favorite surface. Jannik Sinner defeats Daniil Medvedev becoming the 2026 Indian Wells Champion. And he is now the youngest player to win all big hardcourt titles; matching only Djokovic and Federer. The youngest man in history to win both hard court Slams and all 6 hard court Masters 1000 titles.

It was not an easy victory. Sinner had to fight hard the whole match. He took the first set 6-7. But found himself in a hole in the second. Down 0-4 in the 2nd set tiebreak, Jannik Sinner won 7 points in a row against Medvedev to win his first Indian Wells title. A major turnaround indeed.

Nonetheless, it wasn’t just Medvedev’s relentlessness that Jannik had to contend with; but also the Indian Wells desert heat. However, Jannik says it was not as much of a problem as one might expect. After his victory Sinner revealed,

“Yeah, it was hot, it was warm, but it was not humid, so it makes a big difference. But, look, I have been here a week before the tournament started. Was very similar conditions as it was today. We put in very long days of practice.

I felt very well prepared, so I was not having big issues with the weather and with the heat, which is very positive for me. But, yeah, look, it’s all part of the process we are trying to do and becoming the best possible athlete. We do definitely a lot of work in the gym and to play this level. So I’m very happy.”

Well, the preparation paid off well. In the second set Sinner was able to reach deep within in order to achieve his wild comeback after being down. Jannik had some motivation going into the final. Recent memories of losing.

Jannik Sinner told the media previously that after losing in Qatar that he was simply going through a rough patch. However, even then he was not worried about the “slump” because he knows how to turn things around. And now just a month later he immediately wins Indian Wells. What an inspiration.
