Jaguars And CB Tyson Campbell Agreed To Contract Extension
As training camps open up around the NFL more signings are getting done. Today the Jaguars and CB Tyson Campbell agreed to a contract extension. By signing Campbell the Jaguars have continued to retain their veterans. Recently they got a massive deal done with QB Trevor Lawrence. And Taylor’s new deal isn’t too shabby either. According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport:
“Sources: #Jaguars CB Tyson Campbell is signing a 4-year, $76.5M extension that includes $53.4M effectively guaranteed. He is now the highest-paid CB in NFL history that had yet to be named to a Pro Bowl in a deal negotiated by Todd France and Kyle McCarthy of @AthletesFirst.” It’s the largest deal for a CB in 2024 and sixth-highest among all corners.
Campbell has been a starting cornerback for the Jaguars the past three seasons. He was the No. 33 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft from the University of Georgia. Despite missing six games last season due to a hamstring injury, Campbell has been a solid, reliable player. He has started 42 of 43 career games played in three NFL seasons. And he has posted six career interceptions with two forced fumbles. Along with two fumble recoveries with a fumble return for a touchdown. He also has 204 tackles, 146 solos, with six tackles for loss.
Th Jaguars are happy to have come to terms with Campbell. As noted on the team’s website, “Tyson is a young, talented player who is an integral part of our defense and core member of our locker room,” Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “He is a consummate professional on and off the field and we are confident that his best lies ahead. We have consistently messaged the importance of extending our core players and this is another step forward in honoring that commitment.”

As for Campbell, he is thankful to be staying with the team. “I’m blessed to stay in Jacksonville and thankful God is allowing me to continue building something special with my brothers on the field and in the community,” Campbell said. “I want to thank the Jaguars for making my NFL dreams come true three years ago and for still believing in me today.”
Besides retaining their own veterans, the Jaguars also welcomed free agent signings Gabe Davis, Arik Armstead, and Ezra Cleveland. The Jaguars petered out as the 2023 season came to a close so these new signings need to breathe new life back into the team. To be fair key injuries started piling up last year but that is something every team has to overcome. We’ll see if they can overcome them this season.
