Jacksonville Jaguars Will Wear Prowler Throwback Uniforms for 30th Anniversary
The Jags may not be a franchise as old as some of the other longtime NFL teams. However, they do now boast some three decades of history. Jacksonville was an expansion team that got its start back in 1995 with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football Conference (NFC). So then, how do you celebrate 30 years in the league? With new (retro) uniforms! For the upcoming 2024-2025 season the Jacksonville Jaguars will wear Prowler Throwback Uniforms for their 30th anniversary.
In a brief statement Jaguars President Mark Lamping explains why it was decided to go with the Prowler TBT uniform. Lamping states,
“Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it’s apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars’ players in throwback uniforms. That persistence paid off and our uniforms reminiscent of the team’s early years are back by popular demand – just in time for the 30th season and, in particular, the Pride of the Jaguars induction of our inaugural head coach, Tom Coughlin.”

Yes, just in time. Moreover, the rollout for the unveiling of the uniforms based on the team’s original 1995 expansion uniforms was elite. The Jaguars utilized nostalgia to up the ante and enhance the hype surrounding the news. As a result, Jacksonville had this to say about their big reveal and the actual uniform’s design elements; they mention,
“The Prowler Throwbacks were revealed on social media on Thursday in a 1990s-themed video featuring safety Andre Cisco, cornerback Tyson Campbell and Jaguars legend/right tackle Leon Searcy.
The video’s soundtrack: the song “Uh-Oh” song performed by the 1999 Jaguars team that produced a franchise-record 14 regular season victories.
The “Prowler Throwbacks” name stems from the running Jaguar embroidered on the sleeves of the jerseys, which also feature a vintage three-color number. The pants feature a teal stripe with gold and black piping going along the length of the pants. [Our] helmets will have the original Jaguars logo on the side used by the team in the inaugural season of 1995 until 2013.”
