Jacksonville Jaguars Signed Their 2022 No.1 Draft Pick Travon Walker to Long-Term Deal
On Saturday the Jacksonville Jaguars continued to build their team for the long run. They already have their franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and last year they picked up Travis Hunter who has the ability to play both wide receiver and cornerback. And now they are locking down their primary pass rusher. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed their 2022 No. 1 draft pick Travon Walker to a long-term deal. Walker now has a four-year, $110 million contract that includes $77 million in total guarantees and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing. Walker has made his mark since being drafted by the Jags.
He has lodged excellent numbers since joining the Jags putting up two double-digit sack seasons over his four years, with 27.5 career sacks, 57 quarterback hits and 200 tackles. Walker produced 10 sacks in 2023 and 10.5 in 2024. However, he only had 3.5 in 2025 as he worked through wrist and knee injuries. He has missed just five games in his four seasons. So, Walker has proven to be both dependable and durable. These qualities have catapulted him to being the 12th-highest-paid edge rusher annually. At $27.5 million annually that puts him just behind teammate Josh Hines-Allen who is at $28.25 million.
Walker stands at 6′ 5″ and weighs 275 pounds so he has the size needed to set the edge. It’s not a coincidence that the Jags excelled at setting the edge last season. In the running game, the Jaguars held opponents to the fewest rushing yards per game in the league. By doing the contract now the Jaguars avoided Walker playing on his fifth-year option. And they may have saved themselves some money signing him now in case Walker had another big sack season in 2026.

The Jaguars are entering the second year of the leadership of head coach Liam Coen, General manager James Gladstone and Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Tony Boselli. Barely into their second year and they came to terms with Walker. Speaking about the new staff Walker commented:
“Getting a new staff in, it’s always that uncertainty,” Walker said. “When they first got here, I feel like they did a great job of just communicating with me on things. That put in perspective how that relationship was going to go.
“Sometimes you never really know how it’s going to go but since they’ve been there, I feel like on my end and their end we’ve been transparent with each other, and we just have cordial conversation to where we can all just be comfortable.
“That was one of Liam’s main things, speak your mind and we’ll go from there.”
Clearly the Jaguars are all business and want to build on the success they had last year. Congratulations to Travon Walker on his new deal!
