The Jags are looking to improve upon their 2023 record and get themselves to a Super Bowl. Last season, they finished 9-8; second in their division. Nevertheless, in order to get closer to their goals they are aiming to hold onto their core of high performing players. Which is why it is no surprise that they were able to negotiate a new contract with their offensive linebacker. So then, good news… the Jacksonville Jaguars resign Josh Allen to a 5-Year $150 Million Extension. With $88 million being guaranteed.
This is a great deal, for a great guy and athlete. Allen has been lights out for the Jacksonville organization. His impact is something that the Jaguars felt that could not stand to lose. In fact, this is exactly what the team mentions during their press rollout about the new contract with Josh. Since come on… who really wants to just let a two time Pro Bowler walk?
In a graphic posted online (see cover photo), the Jaguars discuss Josh’s 2023 stats that helped make extending him a no-brainer. They mention,
“In 2023, Allen posted 66 tackles (43 solo). 17.5 sacks. 33 quarterback hits. Two forced rumbles and one interception in 17 games. Allen’s 17.5 sacks broke the single-season franchise record, previously set by DL Calais Campbell in 2017 (14. 5). He became the second player since 1982 to record at least 2.5 sacks in four different games in a season. Joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor.”

Josh Allen also had a few words and thoughts to share about today’s big news. He states,
“I’m grateful to the Jaguars organization for putting their faith in me once again. Five years ago, as a first-round pick and again today, they’ve shown that they believe in my talent and value my contributions to this team. I’m prepared to make good on their investment and do whatever it takes to bring a championship to Jacksonville. Thank you to my wife, Kaitlyn, and my kids Wesley, Julian and Vanessa for supporting me on this journey. It’s always been my goal to leave a legacy wherever I go, and I’m proud that work continues in Duval.”
Yes, the work is not finished. The job is not done. The Jags have more decisions to make during the draft and before the start of the new season. However, keeping Allen on board is one that they are definitely proud and happy to have got completed.
