Isaac Paredes Suffered Injury Against White Sox Astro’s Winning Streak Could Be In Jeopardy
Although the third baseman may have been just average on defense, he has put up great numbers offensively. His .353 on-base percentage and 15 home runs have certainly benefitted the team. However, Isaac Paredes suffered an injury Thursday against the White Sox, so the Astro’s winning streak could be in jeopardy. According to CBS Sports, Parades was pulled from Thursday’s game against the White Sox due to a left hamstring injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Parades appeared to hurt his left leg as he was running to first base. Kawahara also went on to report that Paredes grounded into a double play in the seventh inning and began limping before he reached the bag. He walked off the field under his own power but favoring his left leg. Mauricio Dubón replaced Paredes at third base in the top of the eighth. This type of injury almost always means the player will miss some playing time. Or could possibly end up on the injured list which would spell bad news for the Astros.
Despite getting off to a slow start to begin the season, the Astros have been playing well of late. They have been able to capitalize off of the rest of their division with their recent woes. While the Astros have been performing very well, everyone else has been bumbling and stumbling around which was good for the Astros. But if they lose Paredes for any significant amount of time that could put them at a disadvantage. Yordan Alvarez is already on the IL and hitters like Cam Smith and Mauricio Dubon are struggling. Losing Paredes now will put more pressure on the team.

Coming up next, the Astros have series against the division rival Athletics and Los Angeles Angels. Therefore, the upcoming week-and-a-half can be considered a crucial stretch for Houston. As climbingtashill.com points out:
“If Paredes’ injury is minor or the Astros keep scoring runs while he’s out, Houston will be in the driver’s seat heading into the second-half of the 2025 season. If they stumble, the AL West standing could get far more interesting.”
And that’s why the Paredes injury happening right now could derail the season for the Astros. Hopefully the hamstring injury won’t bench him for long, but in the meantime, other players will have to step up their game. They currently have a 4.5 game lead over the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels. Time will tell if they are able to protect it.
