Iowa Versus LSU Elite 8 Game- Full Recap!
The first quarter of the Iowa versus LSU Elite 8 game got off to a BANG. The first points got put on the board, by guess who… yep, Caitlin Clark! She put up a big three and only continued to score. Iowa got off to a very fast start beating the brakes off LSU 17-9 before the first timeout taken by LSU coach, Kim Mulkey.
After the break, LSU begins a comeback, bringing the score within 3, at 14–7. From then on, both sides continue exchanging big shots. Iowa keeps extending the lead, with LSU trailing, but working extremely hard to keep the score close. With barely 3 minutes and change to play in the first quarter, Iowa lead 21-25.
With a little more than a minute to go, Angel Reese comes up with a big steal and then takes it to the house! Giving LSU their first lead of the game. The first ends 31-26.
The second quarter has a scary moment for LSU with Angel Reese blocking a shot by Clark and hurting her ankle on the play. The entire time she is out the game the Tigers do not score. However, the Hawkeyes fight back! Coming within 2 of LSU. Then, after more battling between both teams, Clark hits an insane 3, bringing Iowa back within 1!
Two minutes before the end of the first half is over, the game is tied 39-39. Thanks to a foul on Clark’s part (her first of the night); and 2 free throws later, LSU is back up by 2. But, Clark makes up for it and with 2 layups and gives Iowa back the lead.
However, LSU quickly ties it back up again. It is clear… these are two amazing teams; evenly matched. The half ends 45-45.

The second half begins as the first, a Clark score. And once again, Iowa gets off to a fast lead. Deja Vu.
Then Iowa breaks free and loose! LSU is left in the dust. And they are never able to basically get close in score for the rest of the game. They stay trailing by at least 10 points throughout the final two quarters.
Clark is unstoppable and ends the game putting up over 40 points! An impressive performance. Iowa wins the Elite 8 matchup 87-94.
Wow. Once more congratulations to the winner. This game felt like a championship game, than Elite 8 match. It was intense, action packed and so fun to watch. Can’t wait to see many of these ladies continue to develop and change the WNBA forever.
