Indiana Fever Defeats Minnesota to Win 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup

It was an all out battle at Target Center; with two teams facing each other that ironically both possess this season’s two All-Star captains. However, fans would only be treated to seeing Naphessa Collier in action Tuesday evening, as Caitlin Clark would be sitting out due to injury. Clark has missed five games earlier this season with a quad injury; and this Cup matchup ended up being her third consecutive game missed due to a groin issue. Nevertheless, her team still got the job done… Indiana Fever defeats Minnesota to win the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Yes, even without their powerhouse three-point shooter; the Fever refused to give up. Giving the Commissioner Cup reigning champions (Minnesota); quite the headache. Last season, the Lynx defeated the New York Liberty, 94-89 after a late fourth quarter surge.

Nevertheless, getting to this game; the Indiana Fever got off to a slow start. With Minnesota having and continuing to build a sizable lead with five minutes left to go in the first. Turnovers proved to be a concern and issue for Indiana; allowing the Lynx to garner a 12 point advantage.

However, in the second quarter the Fever finally heats up. Going on an 9-0 run, Indiana pulls within 4 points with four minutes to go in the half. One minute later the Fever are really knocking on the door with Minnesota’s lead now down to just two.

Indiana continues to battle all the way back and succeeds! With two minutes remaining in the second quarter the Fever go up over the Lynx. And they would keep the lead going into halftime, up 32-27. Minnesota did not score in the last eight minutes of the quarter.

Therefore, would the Lynx be able to defrost and power their offense back up? Or would Indiana continue to increase their intensity and keep their foot on the gas? The second half would reveal all and crown a winner.

In the third the Fever kept their lead and intense momentum, going up by double figures with less than four minutes before the final quarter of the game. The Lynx played with great pace but continued to miss shots while also racking up shot clock violations. Would Minnesota be able to have another magical fourth quarter like in 2024?

Well, the Lynx would have a shot. Especially, since this season the Fever has struggled with closing out games. And Minnesota would pull within seven with less than nine minutes to go in the game!

But the Fever would prove to leave a BURN. They would win it in commanding fashion, 74-59 with Natasha Howard being named the MVP. What a game! Therefore, congrats to Indiana, enjoy the first Cup win and all the prizes that comes with it.
