Houston Texans Committed To Helping Texas Community Damaged By Massive Flooding
In times of trouble and disaster, the sports community often stands up to lend a hand. After yet another catastrophic weather event, a Texas team has offered their support. Today the Houston Texans committed to helping a Texas community damaged by massive flooding. Meteorologists had warned about potential flooding across Central Texas late Thursday night and Friday morning. However, they had no idea how torrential and unrelenting the downpours would be.
According to ABC News, “The deadly floods that struck Texas on the 4th of July caught local officials off guard as the torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to rise to near-historic levels in a matter of minutes, officials said.”
The governor of Texas praised the rescuers who have saved over 850 people in the last 36 hours. Some of those people were found clinging to trees, holding on for dear life. But sadly, despite their heroic efforts, ABC News went on to report, “BREAKING: At least 32 people are dead, including 14 children, in the catastrophic flooding, Texas officials said Saturday. Officials are still searching for 27 people who are missing.”
In light of the tragedy, the Houston Texans posted a statement on x.com (formerly twitter):
“The Houston Texans are committing $500,000 to provide support and resources to those impacted by the devastating flooding in the Texas Hill Country communities.”
“We are heartbroken by the loss and damage that our neighbors in the Texas Hill Country have endured. We are especially devastated to hear about the children who are still missing and we are praying they are reunited with their families soon. Our hearts will remain with everyone affected and in addition to our donation, we will continue to support the search, rescue and recovery efforts in the coming weeks.”

Houston Texans Committed To Helping Texas Community Damaged By Massive Flooding
This flooding was caused by extraordinary atmospheric conditions that sent plumes of Gulf of Mexico moisture into areas of Texas vulnerable to flash flooding. And to make matters worse, this weather system formed in a way that allowed it to stall, creating deluges that repeatedly poured several inches of rain on the same areas within a matter of hours. Due to the severity of the damage done, the University of Texas Football Team expressed their thoughts:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the communities and families of Central Texas affected by today’s devastating flooding.”
Likewise our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
